CUMBERLAND FALLS STATE PARK, Kentucky -- Back in the early 1990s, Alison, Curly and I took a trip into Kentucky via the Cumberland Gap, which some of my ancestors first crossed in the waning years of the 18th century. (One relative, Cumberland Robinson, was actually born as his family was making the journey westward through the gap.) One the way through southeastern Kentucky we passed through Corbin , the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken , as well as this jewel hidden among the Daniel Boone National Forest -- Cumberland Falls State Park.
